Terms & Conditions for Funeral Celebrant Services

These Terms & Conditions explain how I, Caroline Deverill, provide funeral celebrancy services.
By asking me to lead a ceremony, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these terms.

1. Nature of the Service

I provide and conduct individual, heartfelt ceremonies, including funerals, memorials, and ashes interments or scatterings.
Every ceremony is crafted specifically for the person being honoured, using details and memories you share.

The style of the service - faith-based, non-religious, or a blend -is entirely your choice, and I will support those wishes with care and dignity.

2. Fees and Invoicing

Service fees are confirmed in advance, either through your chosen funeral director or directly with you.

Most often, the fee is incorporated into the funeral director’s invoice and settled by them.

Where arrangements are made privately, I may request payment beforehand or issue an invoice with a specified payment deadline.

Travel over 35 miles from my home in Worthing (charged at 45p per mile)
Additional charges made if a crematorium out of my local area
Accommodation if required due to distance being travelled to location of ceremony
Extra charges may be incurred if I conduct any further ceremonial elements in addition to the chapel/venue ceremony, such as at the gathering afterwards.

3. Cancellations, Delays & Contingencies

Grief can bring unexpected changes.

If you need to cancel or move a ceremony, please let me know promptly and I will do my utmost to accommodate.

Should illness, emergency, or other unforeseen events prevent me from attending, I will inform you straight away and assist in finding a suitable alternative celebrant.

4. Information & Approval of Drafts

To create a ceremony that truly reflects your loved one, I depend on the accuracy of the information provided, including names, dates, and personal stories. So please do carefully check all details are correct.
You will receive a draft for review so that corrections can be made before the service.

5. Intellectual Property & Keepsakes

All ceremony scripts are written specifically for your service.

They are not reproduced or shared elsewhere.

I will always provide a keepsake copy of the tribute or full script after the funeral.

6. Respect for Privacy

Any personal data you share will be handled confidentially and in line with data-protection law (GDPR).

8. Professional Assurance

I will never publish photographs or personal details from a ceremony without your express, written consent.

Testimonials offered voluntarily may be featured on my website or in printed materials, again only with your prior approval.

7. Photos, Media & Testimonials

I am a fully trained and insured celebrant and follow the professional code of conduct of the Celebrant Circle, with whom I have membership.

You can expect reliability, empathy, and the highest professional standards throughout our work together.
